How to Recruit Your First Affiliates

What you'll learn here

Opening a program is the easy part. The hard part is the first few affiliates who actually sell. This guide shows where those affiliates really come from, based on what we see across the stores on Affiracle, and walks through the tools you have for it: your affiliate portal, the marketplace listing, invitations, and the way you handle applications.

Start with the people who already know your store

The most useful thing we can tell you comes from our own data. An affiliate who joined through a store's own signup page is about five times more likely to make a sale for that store than an affiliate who signed up to Affiracle in general and found the store later. It makes sense: a customer, a follower or a blogger in your niche already trusts the product and already has an audience that cares about it.

So the first place to look for affiliates is not a list of strangers. It is your own customers, your newsletter, your Instagram followers, and the two or three content creators who already mention you.

A full affiliate list is not the goal

We have seen stores invite dozens of affiliates, get ten of them to join, and record no sales at all. Joining costs an affiliate nothing, so a long list tells you very little. Three affiliates who know your product are worth more than thirty who joined because they were asked.

Your affiliate portal

Every store on Affiracle gets its own signup page, called the Affiliates portal. Open Affiliates portal in the menu to find your Portal Link, and use Open Portal to see the page the way a visitor sees it. Anyone who registers through that link is connected to your store from the first moment.

Make the page yours

Customize Portal lets you change the headline, the description, the colors, the cover image, a video, the list of benefits and the text on the button. Write it for a customer, not for a marketer: what they earn, what they get to share, and how they get paid.

  • Your site footer and your "About" page - a plain "Become an affiliate" link.
  • The order confirmation email and the thank-you page - the moment after a purchase is when a customer likes you most.
  • Your newsletter - one short email that says what the commission is and links to the portal.
  • Your social profiles - in the bio link, and in a story or post a few times a year.
A link alone is not enough

Plenty of visitors click a "join our affiliates" link and leave without registering. The page has to answer three questions in the first screen: how much do I earn, what exactly do I share, and when do I get paid. If the default text does not answer them for your store, rewrite it.

Be ready for coupon and deal sites

A large share of the sales that affiliates bring to stores on Affiracle comes from a small group of coupon and deal sites. They work with many stores at once, and they need one thing from you: a coupon code they can publish. A store with no code gives them nothing to list.

Create a code in your store platform, then open Coupons for the store in Affiracle and assign it. The guide on coupon leakage explains the difference between a shared code and an exclusive one, and when each makes sense.

Get listed in the programs marketplace

Affiliates browse the public programs page to find stores to promote. Your program shows up there when all of these are true:

  • The store is connected - the integration is finished and working, not only started.
  • You have a campaign whose Status is Active. A campaign set to Hidden or Inactive does not appear in the marketplace.
  • Your account has a verified email and phone number.

The marketplace is shown by country: a store based in Israel is listed on the Hebrew pages, and a store based in the United States on the English ones.

Affiliates also need something to promote. A store with a synced product catalog gives them product links, images and prices to work with. Among stores on Affiracle, those with a synced catalog are far more likely to get affiliate sales than those without one.

Applications: answer quickly

When Require approval for new affiliates is on in the campaign settings, every affiliate who wants to join sends you an application. You will find them under Affiliates, in the Pending approval list, where you can approve or reject each one. A rejection can carry a short note.

Whether to approve manually is your decision. Some stores choose their affiliates carefully and that is a legitimate way to run a program. What hurts a program is not the rule but the silence: an affiliate who applies to five stores and hears from none of them concludes that nobody is there. If you review applications, do it within a day or two. If you would rather not review them, turn the setting off and affiliates join right away.

Inviting affiliates from Affiracle

The Available for invite tab on the Affiliates page lists affiliates on the platform who are not yet connected to your store. You can send each one an invitation with a personal message, and an affiliate who accepts joins immediately without an approval step. The Invited affiliates tab shows who you invited and what happened.

Invitations are enabled per account

To protect affiliates from spam, sending invitations and adding affiliates yourself is switched off by default. If you do not see the Invite button, contact support and ask to have it enabled for your store. Once it is on, you need at least one active campaign, and you can send up to 10 invitations a day.

Use the limit as a filter rather than a target. Invite affiliates whose audience fits your products, and say in the message why you chose them. A generic invitation gets a generic result.

What to give a new affiliate on day one

An affiliate who is approved and then hears nothing usually forgets the store. Within the first day, make sure they have:

  1. Their link - it is created automatically when they join the campaign.
  2. A coupon code, if you work with codes. Codes are what gets shared on Instagram and TikTok, where links are awkward.
  3. Two or three products worth promoting - your best sellers, not your whole catalog.
  4. A short message in the chat telling them what sells, what your customers ask about, and when you approve and pay.

How long until the first sale?

Be patient, and plan for it. Across stores on Affiracle, the typical time from opening a store to the first sale through an affiliate is about a month. Stores that put the portal link in front of their own customers and have a coupon ready tend to get there sooner. Stores that open a program and wait tend not to get there at all.

A first-week checklist

Finish the store connection and sync your products. Create one active campaign. Rewrite the portal headline for your customers. Add the portal link to your footer and your order confirmation email. Create one coupon code and assign it in Affiracle. Decide who answers applications, and how fast.

FAQ

Do I need a high commission to attract affiliates?

No. Across campaigns on Affiracle, the share that gets sales is roughly the same whether the commission is under 5% or above 25%. What separates programs that sell from programs that do not is who promotes them and whether those affiliates have something concrete to share. See the guide on choosing a commission.

Should I approve every affiliate who applies?

That is your call. Look at where they plan to promote you and whether the audience fits. Rejecting is fine. Not answering is the only wrong option.

I don't see an Invite button on the Affiliates page. Why?

Invitations are enabled per account. Contact support and ask to have them switched on for your store.

An affiliate joined weeks ago and has not sold anything. What should I do?

Write to them in the chat. Ask where they planned to promote you, and offer a coupon code and a couple of products to start with. Many affiliates join several stores at once and promote the one that talks to them.

Can I turn my own customers into affiliates?

Yes, and they are usually your best affiliates. Send them your portal link after a purchase and in your newsletter. They register once and get their own link for your store.
